Amadeus Launches the Amadeus Ticket Changer

Amadeus the first Global Distribution System to introduce this technology in India



New Delhi, January 08, 2010 - Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, has today announced the launch of the Amadeus Ticket Changer. It is for the first time that a solution like this has been launched in India by any GDS. The solution has been designed to handle automation of the calculations necessary to reissue a ticket, and to store the results in the correct ticketing formats.


Speaking on the occasion, Ankur Bhatia, Managing Director, Amadeus India said, "In today's environment of last minute alterations, having the flexibility to change flights is vital to both business and leisure travelers. The Amadeus Ticket Changer is a multi-carrier and highly international solution that gives customers an unparalleled level of flexibility and reactivity to all their itinerary change needs. It allows all kinds of changes, including date, flight and routing, and processes a vast range of tickets, giving the end-consumer unprecedented control over their itineraries. Tickets for several different passengers can all be changed at the same time in one transaction and with the multi re-issue function an unlimited number of successive changes can be made to the ticket before departure.

With this new solution - Amadeus Ticket Changer, our partners will no longer have to invest vast sums in the training and development of highly skilled staff, to make sure that they understand and remember each airline's cancellation and change policy. Additionally, with this new solution, agents can reduce the risk of mistakes and non-collection. The Amadeus Ticket Changer caters to all their requirements by incorporating the myriad airline policies into one easy to use solution. This solution also enables the reissuance of tickets, reporting and results in the reduction of debit memos.

  The Amadeus Ticket Changer comes with a multitude of positives, which includes operators not getting restricted only to bookings made on the Amadeus platform. The Ticket Changer can be applied to tickets for bookings made in other GDSs – broadening the breadth of the customer service. More importantly, the operators are not required to bear the expenses and charged for reservations amended due to unforeseen circumstances (such as bad weather). It also multiplies the agent's revenue opportunities, as they can now levy a flat service fee for amending bookings and add it to their revenue.
Amadeus Ticket Changer is used by a number of airlines internationally, for their own business; however is also a solution dedicated to travel agents / operators. It has already been deployed in several markets including the US, France, Finland, Israel, Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, Egypt and Kazakhstan.
