Amadeus makes Indian Rail Content accessible through its selling platform

New Delhi, December 15, 2009: Amadeus, the leading global technology and distribution partner to the travel industry, today announced the availability of Indian Rail content accessible through Amadeus Selling Platform (ASP), using the Smart Tab technology with a state-of-the-art B2B distribution channel from Bird Group. The Smart Tab technology will be functional on the Amadeus GDS platform from December 11, 2009. This is the first time that Indian Rail content has been made accessible through a GDS.

Amadeus Selling Platform will now provide travel agents with the option of making Indian rail bookings through The Smart Tab technology with is an automated user friendly tool that helps and guides users to perform the desired booking. Being integrated in the Amadeus PNR, this feature allows the travel agents ease of display, print, reporting, accounting, history, invoice and back office process integration. With this option now available, it is just as easy to integrate the rail content, as any of the airline, car or hotel products available. Additionally, offering rail segments as part of their customers' trip, remarkably improves the quality of the travel agent's service and portfolio.

Online ticket bookings with the railways have grown more than 100% in the last year with over 25% of the entire railway ticket bookings being over the internet. This initiative will be another value-add to cater to consumer convenience. The strategic partnership between Amadeus India and would enable travel agents to improve their efficiency and multiply their revenue making opportunities.
